What is it?
Participants in Tour de Cure 2009 fundraising bicycling event will be earning points in the “Point Series Competition” in the months leading up to the Tour de Cure on April 4, 2009. Points will be available for fundraising efforts, team building and participation in our DeTour training clinics – AND for interacting with our sponsors. Participants will be earning points competing for terrific prizes. Point opportunities will be added throughout the months leading to the Tour de Cure on April 4.
Many prizes will be offered with a 2 Grand Prizes of weekend adventure escapes – ONE SUMMER, ONE WINTER to Brian Head Utah generously provided by Land Rover Las Vegas and Brian Head Resort. Top point earner will have their choice, second place will receive the other. Each includes accommodations, activities and a Land Rover to drive to and from Brian Head! Each cyclist will be given a Points Series Record Book to collect points. Other prizes include bicycles, and a one-year membership to Gold’s Gym. More exciting prizes will be added. How does it work?
There are several ways to earn points. You will earn points for registering for the Tour de Cure, attending DeTour events, team building and fundraising. And, you will also have opportunities from October 11, 2008 to April 1, 2009 to earn points by visiting sponsors and participating in special events or contests.
Prizes will be awarded for the top several point-earners. In case of a tie, the person will the highest fundraising total will win.
How do I get my points?
Registration, team building, email and fundraising points will be automatically be added to your account by the ADA office. Soon after you register, you will receive a Points Series Record Book in the mail. DON’T LOSE IT! We will make every effort to have sponsors keep a back-up record of points, but the responsibility is yours. You can turn in the book at any time and get another to keep building your point balance. All books must be turned in by April 1, 2009.
There will also be opportunities at the Tour de Cure to earn additional points on the Henderson Events Plaza and on the Tour routes.
If you are up to a special challenge, the Tour de Cure has added a Performance Points Challenge to the routes. Trophies will be awarded for those who choose to add “something extra” to the already demanding routes. Details will be posted on the Routes tab soon.
